How To Write an Effective Business Case Study

There are several objectives in writing a business case study. One is to support researches conducted on the value of certain products in the market. Another objective is to describe the feasibility of introducing new products and services to the public.

Business case studies also attempt to investigate the cause and effect relationships of business strategies and policies as they are implemented. Most often, when business organizations want to test the pulse of their patrons and clients, they conduct business case studies.

Now you may have been assigned by your company to come up with a business case study. Here are tips that can help you write this piece:

  • Know your target market for the product involved in the study. To be able to come up with satisfactory results, you need to investigate the potential and already existing clientele of the merchandise. Equipped with this knowledge, you will be able to draw factual data and a sensible hypothesis for the case study you are writing.
  • Choose customers that have recently linked with the company. It is important that said customers must be from two opposite sides of market players. This means one customer must give approving rates while the other customer must be one who may have reservations about the products.
  • Find out the reasons why customers like or dislike the product. As you are coming up with a business case study, it must be non-biased. Of course the company will want to see positive results, but then again, being honest with your business case study will be of more help than concealing the negative facts. While your employers might be dismayed with negative feedback in the beginning, they will, for sure, realize the value of your honest work in the long run. With a truthful business case study, the company will be able to appreciate their good work as well as discover the areas that need improvements.
  • Field a true survey. The common fault of business case study writers is they try to take a short cut in their work. Instead of writing something that is based on real case studies, they just recycle reports from previous years. Now this not just inefficiency – it is deceit and treachery. If you do your work this way, you are, in effect, committing fraud against the company that could become grounds for a court case or discharge from work.
  • Abide by the guidelines and principles of the company. Assuredly, your company has its own set of rules and policies on business case studies. Make sure you heed all these policies, which may include the need for sanction from all departments, more particularly, the legal bureau.
  • Make a draft of the case study by drawing its framework. The draft must include all the aspects contained in the researches and surveys. The usual parts of an exposition must be followed: the introduction (statement of the problem), the body (which contains the results of the study and how the problem was dealt with in the course of the survey) and the conclusion (hypothesis).
  • Write your essay in an unpretentious manner. It should be formal but conversant enough to be comprehensible. Include graphs, survey results and other data pertinent to the case study. Acknowledge the customers who took part in the interviews and sample testing and everyone who contributed to the completion of the project.

After you have edited and finalized your business case study, present it for approval to the employers before publication and dissemination. If there are corrections deemed by the company, make the necessary revisions.
